Peoria, Arizona is a rapidly expanding city located 30 minutes northwest of Phoenix. 164,000 people call this Sonoran Desert city home, and it is well known for its parks, open space recreational areas, and lively entertainment district.
Peoria was established in 1886 by William J. Murphy. Murphy was working on a canal construction project in Arizona when he realized the great potential of the area. He returned to his home in Peoria, Illinois and recruited families to found an agricultural community of the same name in Arizona. Over the years, Peoria grew, and it was formally incorporated in 1954.
Like many of the other cities surrounding Phoenix, Peoria is centrally located between the bustling city life and relaxing outdoor areas. You don’t have to travel all the way to Phoenix, however, to find entertainment! Peoria is home to numerous entertainment venues such as community theatre, baseball Spring Training, and a central district with shopping and restaurants.
When it comes to outdoor recreation, Peoria has a lot to offer. The 23,000 acre Lake Pleasant Regional Park features water sports such as boating and fishing, as well as camping and hiking trails. There are an additional 36 neighborhood parks located within Peoria, so whether you are looking to take the kids out on the boat, or to the playground across the street, Peoria has got you covered!
During the holiday season, Peoria hosts its annual Old Town Holiday Festival. This event was founded in 1987, and features activities such as a craft market, a gingerbread house contest, and more. The holiday festivities don’t have to stop there, though! You can always decorate your own home with lights and other festive ornaments. If, at the end of the holiday season, you need a place to store these decorations or to store your boat during the winter months, Dollar Self Storage offers the best Peoria storage facility and great customer service.
We are located on North Lake Pleasant Parkway and would love to help you out with all of your storage needs!
