The Future of Self-Storage Looks Bright (and Attractive!)

No longer relegated to the edge of town next to the defunct drive-in theater, today’s self-storage facilities are bright, clean, and designed to fit in with the aesthetics of the local neighborhood. In a previous post, we talk about the historical roots of the storage industry, beginning as it did in warehouses in the industrial part of town. Even after its transformation in 1960’s Texas to the “self-storage” industry, where you could drive right up to the door of your unit, the facilities were still visually unappealing and usually in the low-rent district. But flash forward to the 21st century, and as the demand for off-site storage has increased, consumers have come to expect more upscale, conveniently located facilities.

In addition to attractive modern architecture, these re-imagined self-storage facilities often offer special amenities, like covered loading docks, elevators, access to moving dollies and rolling carts. Luxurious landscaping features often brighten the environment, and air-conditioning, controlled access, and security cameras are par for the course.

Dollar Self Storage is at the forefront of this new chapter in self-storage, and Is proud to announce the addition of two new facilities to the Dollar Self Storage family: Alton Self Storage and Dollar Self Storage – Jurupa Valley, both in Southern California.

Alton Self Storage (pictured above) is located in Irvine, California. It opened in May 2016, and has been met with great enthusiasm from the surrounding community. This state-of-the-art storage facility is designed around the customer, and features key-code gated entrances, 24 hour video recording and air-conditioned units. One of the advantages of storing here is that they can accommodate large moving trucks for easy access for residential or business needs.

Dollar Self Storage – Jurupa Valley, which is located in Riverside County, California, is scheduled to open later this summer. Like Alton Self Storage, it is a brand-new facility, constructed for the express purpose of meeting the storage needs of the surrounding community.

If you live in the Southern California area, we invite you take a tour of these beautiful new facilities and get a close-up look at the future of self-storage!
